Intrepid young reporter, Tintin, and his loyal dog, Snowy, are thrust into a world of high adventure when they discover a ship carrying an explosive secret. As Tintin is drawn into a centuries-old mystery, Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine suspects him of stealing a priceless treasure. Tintin and Snowy, with the help of salty, cantankerous Captain Haddock and bumbling detectives, Thompson and Thomson, travel half the world, one step ahead of their enemies, as Tintin endeavors to find the Unicorn, a sunken ship that may hold a vast fortune, but also an ancient curse.

Bazat pe celebrele și îndrăgitele personaje create de Hergé, filmul urmărește aventurile unui tânăr și îndrăzneț reporter pe nume Tintin (interpretat de Jamie Bell) și ale credinciosului său câine Snowy. Din clipa în care Tintin devine posesorul unei machete de vapor care ascunde un secret bine păstrat de secole, Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine - un individ ticălos și diabolic - pornește pe urmele lui. Sakharine (interpretat de Daniel Craig) este convins că Tintin a furat neprețuita comoară a unui pirat pe nume Red Rackham. Cu ajutorul lui Snowy, al istețului dar impulsivului Căpitan Haddock (interpretat de Andy Serkis) și al detectivilor Thompson și Thomson (Simon Pegg și Nick Frost), Tintin va străbate jumătate de mapamond, într-o cursă nebunească, în căutarea Licornului, epava unui vapor care ascunde o comoară… dar și un vechi blestem.
