Povestea serialului este un prequel al jocului video "Assassin's Creed II" si il are in centru pe tatal lui Ezio Auditore de Firenze, eroul din joc.Giovanni este un asasin al Italiei secolului al XV-lea. In zorii acestei noi epoci, cea a Renasterii, o conspiratie este pusa la cale de o familie corupta al carei scop este inlaturarea puternicei familii de Medici si distrugerea Italiei unificate.
