Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.

Au trecut ani și ani de când cel cunoscut drept Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) a lăsat în urmă jungla din Africa pentru o viață rafinată alături de soția sa, Jane (Robbie). De această dată, a fost invitat din nou în Congo, pentru a servi ca emisar al Parlamentului, deloc conștient de faptul că este doar un pion într-un plan complex, determinat de lăcomie și răzbunare și pus în mișcare de căpitanul Leon (Waltz). Însă căpitanul și acoliții lui nu au habar de ceea ce sunt pe cale să dezlănțuie.
