After his mother’s death, Zucchini is befriended by a kind police officer, Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home filled with other orphans his age. There, with the help of his newfound friends, Zucchini eventually learns to trust and love as he searches for a new family of his own.

Dupa disparitia mamei lui, Dovlecel se imprieteneste cu Raymond, ofiterul de politie care il va insoti catre noua lui viata la casa de copii. Eroului nostru ii va fi greu la inceput sa isi gaseasca locul in acest mediu nou si, adesea, ostil. Dar cu ajutorul lui Raymond si a noilor prieteni, Dovlecel va invata sa aiba incredere in ceilalti si chiar va realiza ce inseamna dragostea.
