Docteur Teyran - Sezonul 1 (1980)

The French TV miniseries Docteur Teyran, made in 1980 by Jean Chapot, presents the drama of a famous surgeon, Professor Jean Teyran, played by Michel Piccoli. The respectable surgeon's life is turned upside down when he discovers that his daughter, Michèle, is dating a criminal. Worried about her future, Teyran tries to convince her to give up on this relationship. Driven by the protective instinct and jealousy, the doctor ends up in a confrontation with his daughter's boyfriend. In a moment of weakness, he kills him. He then tries to cover up the crime to protect his family and reputation. The action turns into a psychological thriller and a dramatic court trial, in which the secrets of the Teyran family come to light. The series explores the moral and psychological implications of the characters' deeds. The miniseries, structured in three parts, addresses themes such as jealousy, possessiveness, family honorability and the limits of justice.
