In 18th century France, the Chevalier de Fronsac and his Native American friend Mani are sent by the King to the Gevaudan province to investigate the killings of hundreds by a mysterious beast.

Cei mai buni oameni ai regelui au misiunea de a dezlega misterul bestiei. Doi oameni care se pregătesc să înfrunte tenebrele și teroarea. Fiind cei mai buni, vor apela la cei mai buni ca să vâneze bestia: Grégoire de Fronsac (Samuel le Bihan), Mani (Mark Dacascos), Marianne de Morangias (Emilie Dequenne) și fratele acesteia, Jean-Francois (Vincent Cassel), moștenitorii celei mai influente familii din regiune.
