The true story of Australia's cat-and-mouse underground mine warfare—one of the most misunderstood, misrepresented and mystifying conflicts of WW I. It was secret struggle BENEATH the Western Front that combined daring engineering, technology and science. Few on the surface knew of the brave, claustrophobic and sometimes barbaric work of these tunnellers.
Filmul este bazat pe o poveste reală a lui Oliver Woodward, care în anul 1916 se desparte de prima sa dragoste a adolescenţei şi pleacă în carnagiul de pe noroiosul front de vest al Primului Război Mondial. Aflaţi în subteran, deasupra lor desfăşurându-se temutele forţe armate ale Germaniei, Woodward împreună cu plutonul său secret "Australian tunnelers" încearcă să apere un tunel-labirint plin de explozibil ce poate schimba cursul războiului.
