BELLE is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral. Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield and his wife, Belle's lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the color of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing. Belle este inspirat de povestea adevarata a lui Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), fiica mulatra ilegitima a unui capitan al Marinei Regale Britanice. Crescuta de stra-unchiul ei aristocrat, Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) si de sotia acestuia (Emily Watson), descendenta lui Belle ii ofera diferite privilegii, dar culoarea pielii ei o impiedica sa participe de-a intregul la traditiile statutului social.
