The year is 1949. A young Texan named John Grady finds himself without a home after his mother sells the ranch where he has spent his entire life. Pasiune neimblanzita este povestea unui tanar cowboy texan pe nume John Grady Cole (Matt Damon) care decide sa plece departe de sondele care au cotropit ranch-urile, in Mexic, unde caii salbatici alearga inca liberi. Impreuna cu prietenul lui, Lacey Rawlins (Henry Thomas), John trece Rio Grande pentru a-si implini visul de a duce o viata de cowboy adevarat. Este anul 1949, cand petrolistii incep sa cumpere pamanturile fermierilor, iar autostrazile isi croiesc drum prin peisajul altadata salbatic…
