The Jack Bull tells the story of Myrl Redding, a Wyoming horse trader who clashes with Henry Ballard, a fellow rancher, after Ballard abuses two of Myrl's horses and their Crow Indian caretaker, Billy. When Judge Wilkins throws out Myrl's complaint, the war he wages to force Ballard to nurse the emaciated animals back to health escalates into a vigilante manhunt, murder and the possible defeat of Wyoming's bid for statehood.
„The Jack Bull” spune povestea lui Myrl Redding, un negustor de cai din Wyoming care se confrunta cu Henry Ballard, tot fermier, dupa ce Ballard se poarta urat cu doi dintre caii lui Myrl si cu ingrijitorul acestora, indianul Billy. Cand judecatorul Wilkins respinge plangerea lui Myrl, razboiul pe care acesta il porneste impotriva lui Ballard pentru a-l sili sa ofere ajutor medical celor doua animale suferinde se transforma intr-o veritabila vanatoare, marcata de crima …
