Travis and Wendell are two down-on-their-luck New Yorkers who think they're relocating to a small town in Nebraska to open a nightclub. What they don't know is they have actually been abducted by a KGB operative and flown to the Soviet Union, where they'll unwittingly serve as "experts" on all things cool in America. The town, created expressly for KGB spies-in-training is meant to serve as a training ground for Soviet agents. What can these two hapless Americans possibly teach the Soviet spies and will they ever learn they are not actually in Nebraska?

În URSS este un sat populat cu rușii care vorbesc și se comportă ca americanii, unde agenții KGB se instruiesc. Orașul stagneaza la nivelul anilor '50 și noul șef al KGB se teme că agenții lui vor da greș. El se duce la New York și angajează doi hippy că să vină în Nebraska și să deschidă un club de noapte. Pe drum îi droghează și când se trezesc ei cred că sunt în Vest. Ei transformă un bar într-un club hippy, îi învață pe localnici să danseze, deschizându-le orizonturile spre cultura pop. Lucrurile devin periculoase când prietenii noștri vor să evadeze. Dar își vor da ei seama că nu sunt în Nebraska?
