Ben Cooper and his family are struggling to get a grip on household chores, school and work. So when Ben sees that a Smart House is being given away, he enters the competition as often as he can, until they eventually win the house (named Pat). After moving in, Pat's personality begins to radically change, and the family starts to resent her.
Familia Coopers, compusă dintr-un tată văduv, fiica Agie şi Ben, fratele cel mare, se descurcă greu cu problemele casnice. De aceea când câştigă o casă, proiectată de tânăra Sara, dotată cu un robot care rezolvă toate treburile - curăţă, găteşte şi are grijă de copii, cu toţii sunt foarte fericiţi. Dar când tatăl începe să-şi petreacă serile cu Sara, robotul se transformă într-o mamă sufocantă, chiar periculoasă. De aceea Sara şi Ben se vor strădui să anihileze robotul terorist.
