When Claire Spencer starts hearing ghostly voices and seeing spooky images, she wonders if an otherworldly spirit is trying to contact her. All the while, her husband tries to reassure her by telling her it's all in her head. But as Claire investigates, she discovers that the man she loves might know more than he's letting on.

În urmă cu un an, Dr. Norman Spencer (Harrison Ford) îşi înşelase soţia, pe frumoasa Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer). Dar cum aceasta nu aflase, iar "aventura" se încheiase, mariajul lor părea că merge perfect. Într-o zi, Claire îi mărturiseşte lui Norman că, de la o vreme, aude voci misterioase şi vede silueta fantomatică a unei femei la ei în casă. Norman reacţionează categorisind aceste fapte drept halucinaţii ale soţiei sale. Însă, pe măsură ce Claire se apropie de descoperirea adevărului, devine evident că apariţia fantomatică nu poate fi ignorată şi că se afla acolo pentru dr. Norman Spencer şi frumoasa sa soţie.
