Ariadna discovers that her grandfather has been searching for the remains of his father, who disappeared during the Civil War. Determined to help him, she travels to Burgos, where a mass grave is being excavated, and where he could be buried. During her stay there, she will learn the story of Antoni Benaiges, a young teacher from Tarragona who was her grandfather's teacher before the war. Through an innovative pedagogical method, Antoni inspired his students and made them a promise: to take them to see the sea.

În 1935, Antoni Benaiges este angajat ca profesor într-un mic sat izolat din Burgos, Spania. Reușește să se apropie foarte mult de elevii săi, copii cu vârste cuprinse între șase și doisprezece ani, cărora le face o promisiune: o să plece împreună într-o călătorie să le arate marea pentru prima dată în viața lor. 75 de ani mai târziu, nepoata unuia dintre acești elevi descoperă povestea minunată ascunsă în spatele unei promisiuni care nu a putut fi dusă la capăt. Un film ce are la bază povestea adevărată a lui Antoni Benaiges.
