Arhiepiscopul ucrainian Kiril Lakota este eliberat dupa doua decenii de inchisoare politica in Siberia. Este adus la Roma de catre Fr. David Telemond, un tanar preot problematic cu care se imprieteneste. Ajuns la Vatican, Lakota este trimis imediat la Papa care il promoveaza la rangul de cardinal.
