Lucas returns to his native village lost in the mountains to bury his parents. Traumatised as a kid by the death of his best friend when he was eight, he wants to put the past behind him. However, the father of the deceased friend discovers Marc might be responsible for his son’s death and relentlessly goes after him for revenge.

Lucas și Mathias, doi băieți de 8 ani dintr-o zonă forestieră a Munților Vosgi, sunt cei mai buni prieteni. Dar într-o zi, viața lor se schimbă pentru totdeauna: tatăl lui Lucas îl lovește mortal pe Mathias cu mașina și, sub privirile îngrozite ale fiului său, îi ascunde trupul în prăpastie. Un singur schimb de priviri e suficient: Lucas înțelege că nu va putea spune nimănui ce s-a întâmplat. Douăzeci de ani mai târziu, revenit în sat pentru înmormântarea părinților, Lucas îl reîntâlnește pe tatăl lui Mathias. Încă bântuit de vină, acceptă invitația acestuia la o cafea...
