Filmul este bazat pe romanul bestseller al lui Susanna Moore. In the Cut este un thriller psihologic care o are ca interpreta principală pe Meg Ryan şi este regizat de Jane Campion. Ryan interpretează o femeie singuratică din New York, care descoperă partea întunecată a pasiunii, după ce a fost implicată într-o relaţie cu un detectiv de la omucideri care investiga o serie de crime petrecute în cartierul ei.
