A dispossessed, violent man's life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Successively deprived of parents and homes and with few other ties, he descends to the level of a cave dweller and falls deeper into crime and degradation.

“Child of God” spune povestea unui barbat violent si brutal care nu se poate integra in societate si nu poate duce o viata normala, motiv pentru care devine criminal si necrofil, pierde contactul cu lumea civilizata, renunta la orice ramasita de umanitate si se izoleaza intr-o grota. Filmul este inspirat de romanul cu acelasi nume scris de Cormac McCarthy.
