Bonn depicts the rise of the young West Germany, a country struggling to break free from the terrors and legacies of World War II and longing for a 'normal' life. Into this heady and volatile mix steps Toni, a young woman determined to seize every opportunity, overcome every obstacle and make her own way in what is still a very male-dominated society. But what at first appears to be only an entry-level office job at one of the country's two competing secret services soon sucks her ever deeper into a clandestine world of suspicion.

Bonn descrie ascensiunea tinerei Germanii de Vest, o țară care se luptă să se elibereze de terorile și moștenirile celui de-al Doilea Război Mondial și tânjește după o viață „normală”. În acest amestec amețitor și volatil pășește Toni, o tânără hotărâtă să profite de orice ocazie, să depășească orice obstacol și să-și croiască drum într-o societate încă dominată de bărbați. Dar ceea ce la început pare a fi doar un loc de muncă entry-level la unul dintre cele două servicii secrete concurente ale țării, o trage în curând într-o lume clandestină a suspiciunii.
