Director James Toback takes an unflinching, uncompromising look at the life of Mike Tyson--almost solely from the perspective of the man himself. TYSON alternates between the controversial boxer addressing the camera and shots of the champion's fights to create an arresting picture of the man.
Copil sarac din Brooklyn, crescut intr-un anturaj indoielnic ("putini dintre ei au ajuns acum adulti normali"), Tyson isi aminteste ca era un pusti de 12 ani la casa de corectie, cand antrenorul Cus d'Amato i-a devenit tata adoptiv, crescandu-l pe Mike alaturi de familia lui si formandu-l ca boxer. Tyson a fost un elev sarguincios: studia obsesiv vechile filme cu boxeri, a invatat latura spirituala a luptei si "s-a abtinut de la sex pentru aproape cinci ani".
